Thank you for your support of our garlic farm!
The season begins when our garlic seeds are hand separated from our harvest of organic garlic bulbs. Select cloves make it into our seed stock. Experience shows which cloves will yield the best crop.
Seeds are carefully hand planted into fertile soil, perfect for garlic. Mulch is used to give the seeds a safe environment as they get ready for the cold winter.
In the early Spring, organic fertilizer is added to boost bulb size and wellness.
The Summer growth is welcome, but brings unwanted weeds. Routine hand weeding and watering ensure a healthy and bountiful crop.
In early Summer, we harvest the scapes, which form from the center of each plant and make a great dressing for a variety of meals. The scape removal also directs growth to the bulb.
By mid-July, the bulbs are ready for harvesting. Our team of helpers carefully hand pull every plant for cleaning and drying.
After 3-4 weeks of drying, the bulbs are trimmed, cleaned and stored in a controlled environment for storage and sale.
We then begin the next cycle for the following season.
Our taste guide includes a combination of our personal garlic experiences, customer feedback and known chef experiences. Garlic has a very complex chemistry, making flavor hard to categorize. But, we hope this guide will start you in the right direction when choosing your garlic!
